Week In Review (7/04 – 7/11)

The end of another week brings us to our weekly installment of Week In Review. As always, it will serve to catch you up with any news you may have missed this past week. We’ll start with The Gaslight Anthem’s new video for ‘American Slang’ as well as !!!’s video for ‘AM/FM’ which you can check out below.

In album news, we had The Strokes shocking everyone by announcing that their upcoming album has been delayed until March of next year. Deerhunter have announced plans for their 4th studio album to be released on September 28th. M.I.A.’s new album, /\/\ /\ Y /\, is currently being streamed on her Myspace. Daft Punk’s upcoming Tron Legacy soundtrack received a November 23rd release date.

In tour news this week, we had The Tallest Man on Earth mapping out a series of dates for this fall, as well as Band of Horses adding a bunch of dates. HEALTH have also begun to plot the dates for their upcoming world tour and Of Montreal have also decided on dates for their world tour.

On the reviewing front, Wolf Parade’s newest effort, Expo 86, didn’t break any new ground but capitalizes on what the band does best. Woom’s Muu’s Way succeeds by capturing the emotion found in evolving from adolescence to adulthood. Eric Berglund’s solo outfit, ceo, made its debut with White Magic and turned in inferior results compared to his full-time work with The Tough Alliance. Singer-songwriter Damien Jurado continues to evolve as an artist on Saint Bartlett, though this time it feels more organic a progression despite not being particularly memorable. Meanwhile, indie-pop troupe Allo Darlin’ lives up to the genre’s cutesy promise on its eponymous debut whereas The Futureheads also retread the past, though it’s their own.
