Ratings Explained
In contrast to many sites who operate a similar ratings system, we choose to the utilize the full extent of potential scores. We also operate a single decimal increment system within this framework because we as writers feel it allows us the most freedom to accurately portray how we feel about an album. With that in mind, here is an explanation of what our scores mean.
/10: Worthless –albums with zero merit or redeeming qualities.
/10: Atrocious — a melody or two away from worthless.
/10: Awful — woefully bad.
/10: Very poor — the odd standout moment but little else.
/10: Poor — negatives outweigh the positives.
/10: Average — fairly even split between good and bad.
/10: Good — positives outweigh the negatives.
/10: Very good — enjoyable from start to finish.
/10: Excellent — one of the finest albums in any given year.
/10: Superb — one of the best albums released in a generation.
/10 : Perfect — amongst the best ever made.
